What is CattleGTEx?
The Cattle Genotype-Tissue Expression (CattleGTEx) project is a public resource for studying context-specific molecular phenotypes and genetic regulatory variation in cattle. Samples in the phase 1 of CattleGTEx were primarily collected from public domain, supplemented with 1,322 newly generated data, comprising 12,422 samples of 8,956 individuals across 43 tissue types. The sample size ranges from 41 in Spleen to 2,693 in Immune System, with an average of approximately 413 individuals across tissues. The CattleGTEx phase 1 mapped regulatory effects for seven molecular phenotypes derived from RNA-seq, including four abundance-based (gene expression, exon expression, isoform expression, and enhancer expression) and three structure-based (alternative splicing, RNA stability, 3’ APA), across 43 tissue types. We demonstrated their potential in dissecting complex trait genetics, population selection signatures and comparative genomics. All the results can be queried here and download freely.
